ASPIRE is the first American musical to have
been produced in the Middle East, in Doha, Qatar in 2005. Commissioned for the opening ceremonies of the world's largest glass-enclosed
soccer stadium, Stephen Cole and I had 6 weeks to write the show, and completed it in 5. The plot was dictated by a movie star friend of the Emir, and it only played a week
with a British singing cast and over 100 dancers and acrobats from all over the world, accompanied a pre-recorded 70 piece
Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. It was such
a wild experience that we returned and wrote THE ROAD TO QATAR about it all!
